Time zones

How event, profile and display time zones work, and how to set yours or add a second zone.

Understand which clock Calendar uses, and how to plan across time zones.

Three clocks

Clock What it is
Event zone The zone the event was planned on. A repeating 9:00 meeting set in New York stays 9:00 there through daylight saving.
Your time zone Saved in your profile. The calendar shows events on this clock. Reminders, notifications and working hours use it too.
Display zone What the grid uses: your profile zone, otherwise the device's zone.

Set your time zone

  1. Click the globe button in the top bar (it shows the city and offset, for example "Kolkata · GMT+5:30").
  2. In Time zones, choose Your time zone. Use this device's zone switches to the one your device reports.
  3. Optionally choose Also show to add a second column of hours beside the grid for another office.
  4. Click Save.

The second zone is remembered in this browser only. Your own zone is saved to your profile.

If your device and profile differ

A banner says "This device is on time (…); your calendar shows (…)." with Switch to and Keep . Your choice is remembered for that device zone.

In the event dialog

Click the zone button next to the times to change the event's own zone. If it differs from yours the dialog shows the same span "your time". An open event shows its own clock too: "… in (GMT…) — the event's own clock".

Working across zones

  • Reminders and invitations are worded in each person's zone.
  • Find a time reads working hours on each person's own clock and shows their local time for your slot.
  • Outside guests' emails show the event's zone and its offset.
  • On a booking page, visitors see slots in their own zone and can switch it.
