Find files

Search folders, sort and change the layout in Drive, and use the Recent view.

Search a folder and everything under it, sort the list, switch between list and grid, and see recent files.

  1. Open a space or folder.
  2. Type in Search in …. Results update after a short pause.
  3. Results come from that folder and its subfolders. Each hit shows where it lives. With nothing found you see "No matches".

Clear the box to return to the folder. Changing folder resets the search.

Sort and layout

  • Use the sort menu to choose Name, Last modified (newest first) or Size (largest first). Names sort with numbers in order (file2 before file10).
  • Use the layout switch for List or Grid.
  • Your choice is remembered in this browser.

More results

Folders load in pages. Click Load more at the bottom. A footer counts folders and files, with "shown" when more remain.

Recent

Drive › Recent lists the newest files across all your spaces. Filter with All, Documents, Images & media and Other. Right-click a file for Open, Download and Show in folder.

The trail above the list shows where you are. Click any part to go up. A folder link in your browser address bar can be sent to a colleague who has access.
