Access check
Ask whether a person can do a specific thing, and see which rule decided the answer.
Use the Access check to find out what someone can actually do before they run into it.
Before you start: You need People & permissions at Can manage people or higher. The check shows the same answer AxisIQ gives when that person tries the action.
Steps
- Open Team & Permissions › Access check.
- Under Person, choose someone.
- Under In which app, pick the app, for example Business records.
- Under Doing what, pick the action, for example view or delete.
- If the app can be limited to something specific, Where lets you choose Anywhere in the workspace or one record type, space, site, form or queue. Otherwise it is disabled and reads Where (whole workspace).
- Click Check access.
Reading the answer
- Yes — … can do this. A role allows it.
- Yes — … own this workspace, so they can do everything. The person is the owner.
- No — nothing gives … this permission. No role they hold allows it. Give them a role or raise a level.
- No — a rule explicitly blocks … from this. A Deny rule applies. Open the role's Advanced rules to find it.
Under the answer, Show the rule that decided this reveals the deciding rule as text, for anyone who wants the detail.
Tips
- Check after you change a role to be sure the result is what you meant.
- Check a service account's access the same way: it appears in Access keys, and its roles work like a person's.
