Templates and example data

Apply an industry template to an empty workspace, or delete the template's example records.

The Industry template card on the settings page lets the owner apply a template to an empty workspace or remove its example data.

Before you start: Only the workspace owner can do this. The card is hidden from everyone else. See the template list.

Apply a template to an empty workspace

The card appears for an owner whose workspace has no record types of its own ("This workspace is still empty.").

  1. Open Organization settings.
  2. In Industry template, pick a template card.
  3. Optionally keep Include example data (removable later in one click) ticked.
  4. Click Apply template and confirm. The dialog says how many apps, record types, roles and automations it adds and that it switches the platform apps to the template's set.
  5. Wait while the card shows "Building your workspace — apps, records, roles and dashboard...".

Once your workspace has record types of its own, a template can no longer be applied.

Clear example data

When a template made the workspace, the card says "This workspace was built from the template." and counts the example records still present.

  1. Click Clear example data.
  2. Read the confirmation: it permanently deletes the example records the template created. Records you or your team added are not touched.
  3. Click Delete example data. A message says how many were deleted.

Important: Deleting example data cannot be undone.

If you edited an example record, it is still deleted, because it is identified as one the template made. After clearing, the card says "No example data left — everything here is your own."
