Use the setup assistant

Talk to Axis after you create a workspace so it builds or tailors your apps, record types, roles and home dashboard.

The setup assistant is a full-screen chat that opens when you create a workspace. For a blank workspace it interviews you and builds the workspace. For a template workspace it asks what is different about your business and adjusts what is already there.

Before you start: Only the workspace owner can start the setup chat. Each workspace has one setup conversation.

Steps

  1. Create a workspace. You arrive on a page titled Setting up . While it is prepared you see Preparing your workspace...
  2. Axis speaks first. Read its opening message.
  3. Answer its questions. When a question comes with options, click one or type your own answer in the box ("Pick an option or type your own answer...").
  4. For a blank workspace, Axis proposes a plan: the apps, record types, roles, automations and a home dashboard. Axis asks you to confirm once, typically offering to build with or without example data, or to change something.
  5. After you confirm, Axis builds. A bubble titled Building your workspace... shows a running tally and the last few steps. You can leave the page: "Keeps going if you leave this page."
  6. When it finishes, Axis gives you a short tour. Click Open your workspace in the top bar.

What happens next

  • The header button says Skip setup until the build is finished (or immediately says Open your workspace for a template workspace). You can skip at any time and come back.
  • Your new apps appear in the launcher and a home dashboard is saved.
  • The footer reminds you: "You can reopen this setup any time from Settings, and everything it builds can be changed later."

Reopen the setup chat

Open Organization settings, find the Elsewhere card and click Workspace setup assistant. The conversation resumes where you left it. It also appears in your conversation history in Ask Axis.

Tips

  • Setup is free for the first 60 messages you send in that conversation. After that it counts against your AI allowance like any chat.
  • The assistant works with your permissions. Anything it builds can be edited afterwards by hand.
  • Answer in your own words about how your business works, for example what you sell, how orders are fulfilled and who does what.

Troubleshooting

Ask Axis isn't switched on yet The assistant is not enabled for this installation. Contact the person who administers AxisIQ for you.
