Subscribe, import and export

Share a calendar with Google, Outlook or Apple through a secret link and import or export .ics files.

Show a calendar in Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar with a secret link, and move events in and out with .ics files.

Before you start: you need to manage the calendar. Records calendars have none of these features.

Subscribe from another app

  1. Click the gear next to the calendar › Subscribe & import tab.
  2. Turn on Subscription link on.
  3. Click Copy next to Subscription link and paste it into the other app's "subscribe by URL" option.

The link is secret. Anyone holding it can see this calendar, so share it like a password. Private events appear as "Busy".

To revoke old subscriptions, click Reset link and confirm "Reset the subscription link? Every app subscribed with the current link stops updating until it is given the new one." You see "New link ready". Turning the switch off removes the link.

Import an .ics file

  1. In the same tab click Import .ics and choose a file exported from another calendar.
  2. A result shows "N added, N updated" and ", N skipped" if any, with up to 8 warnings.

Rules:

  • Events are matched by their unique ID. Importing the same file again updates events instead of duplicating them.
  • Edited single occurrences of a repeating event are kept as changes to that series.
  • Times without a zone take the calendar's time zone.
  • Repeat rules Axis does not support become single events, with a warning.
  • A file can hold at most 2,000 events: "a file may hold at most 2000 events".

Export

Click Export .ics. The file contains the calendar's events. Private events export as "Busy".

Limits

This is a one-way link for subscribing, plus manual import and export. Two-way sync with Google or Outlook is not available.

Troubleshooting
