GST and tax on documents
How AxisIQ works out CGST, SGST and IGST, place of supply, supply types, rounding, prices that include tax, and the tax summary.
Every document type follows one tax system: India — GST, VAT or No tax. This page explains what the GST system does with each line.
Intra-state or inter-state
The Place of supply decides the split.
| Your state vs place of supply | Tax on the document |
|---|---|
| Same state | CGST and SGST, each half the rate (18% → 9% + 9%) |
| Different state | IGST at the full rate |
| Export or SEZ supply | IGST with payment of tax; no tax under LUT / bond |
The place of supply is filled from the customer when you pick them — their state, or the first two digits of their GSTIN. You can change it in the editor before issuing.
Supply type
Business (B2B), Consumer (B2C), Export with payment of tax, Export under LUT / bond, SEZ with payment of tax and SEZ under LUT / bond. The type prints on the document and decides how exports and SEZ supplies are taxed.
Tax rates
Invoice settings → Tax rates lists the rates the Tax % picker offers. GST workspaces start with 0, 0.25, 3, 5, 12, 18 and 28%. You can add your own, or type any rate on a line.
How the totals are worked out
- Each line: quantity × rate, less its discount = the taxable value.
- Tax is worked out per line and per component (CGST, SGST or IGST), and rounded to the paisa.
- The document total is the taxable value plus tax. With Round the total to a whole amount on, the difference to the nearest rupee is shown as Round-off.
All arithmetic is exact decimal arithmetic — there is never a floating-point paisa missing.
Prices include tax (per document type) treats each rate you enter as tax-inclusive and works the taxable value backwards from it.
The tax summary
The PDF prints a Tax summary grouped by HSN/SAC code and rate, with each component and the total tax — the table your accountant needs for returns. You can switch it off per document type in PDF appearance.
Amount in words
The total is printed in words in the Indian system — for example "Rupees One Lakh Twenty One Thousand Four Hundred Ninety Two Only".
Note: E-invoicing (IRN generation through the government portal) is not available yet.
