Open a query in Sheets
Send an Analytics query result to a workbook, editable and linked to records when possible.
Turn the result of an Analytics query into a workbook you can edit, calculate on and export.
Before you start: you need permission to run queries in Analytics and Full control on Sheets (a new workbook is created).
Steps
- Open Analytics & Reports › Query workspace and run a query.
- In the results panel, click Open in Sheets (next to Export CSV). It is disabled when the result has no rows.
- A workbook named "Query results" opens with the rows in one sheet.
What you get
- Column labels come from the query's column names. Types are guessed from the values.
- If your query reads from exactly one record type and selects the
idcolumn, the sheet is record-linked: matching columns take the field types, and you can edit and Push to records. See Edit records in Sheets. Only the records in the result are kept in sync. - Any other query gives a plain snapshot that does not update.
- The result is produced with your permissions. Masked fields stay masked.
Limits
- A result too large for a sheet is refused: "result too large for a sheet" (over your plan's rows or 200 columns).
- The query workspace itself returns at most 1,000 rows. See Analytics.
