AxisIQ for auto component manufacturers
AxisIQ tracks OEM schedules as sales orders, rejection % by reason, final inspection with rework jobs, breakdowns, dispatch and PPAP files.
AxisIQ runs the plant side of an auto component supplier: OEM and tier-1 schedules as sales orders with dated lines, work orders and shift-wise output with rejects by reason, incoming, in-process and final inspection with automatic rework jobs, machine breakdowns, and dispatches carrying invoice, e-way bill number and vehicle — with PPAP and customer documents kept in Drive beside the records. The Manufacturing template sets it up at signup, and Ask Axis, the built-in assistant, adapts it to your customers' requirements.

How a tier-2 supplier's month looks
A tier-2 or tier-3 supplier making pressings, machined parts, castings or moulded components lives by the customer's schedule. The OEM or tier-1 sends a monthly schedule, revises it mid-month, and expects deliveries in daily or weekly lots. Every lot is inspected at their gate, and a rejection there turns into a debit note, a line on your supplier scorecard and sometimes a visit from their quality team.
So the questions that matter are relentless and specific: are we on schedule for this part this week, what is our rejection rate and why, which lot went for rework and did it come back, which press lost six hours yesterday, and where is the latest control plan for this part number. In most plants these are answered from three Excel sheets, the quality engineer's laptop and a WhatsApp group with the customer's buyer.
How the Manufacturing template covers it
Schedules as sales orders. Each customer schedule becomes a Sales order with the customer's PO or schedule reference in Customer PO, and SO lines for each part number with its own Delivery date — one line per delivery lot if your customer schedules by week. Each line tracks Dispatched against Quantity, so a short delivery is visible line by line, and the dashboard's Late orders to chase table lists what has slipped.
Customers with terms. A Customer record carries GSTIN, state, payment terms up to net 90, a credit limit and an on-hold status for the account that has stopped paying.
New parts. RFQs for new parts arrive as Enquiries — from the Request a quotation form or entered by sales — with annual volume, quoted value and a feasibility stage before quoted, won or lost.
Parts and revisions. Every part is an Item with its Drawing / rev, HSN code and GST rate, and a Bill of materials with revision, routing and BOM lines carrying scrap %. When the customer issues a new drawing revision, the old BOM goes obsolete and a new one takes effect from a date.
Output and rejection %. Production entries record produced, rejected, main reject reason and downtime per machine per shift. The home dashboard shows Rejection % (30 days) as a headline number and Rejects by reason as a chart — both editable queries in Analytics — so the conversation with your customer's quality team starts from data, not memory.
Final inspection and rework. A Quality inspection (numbered QC-2026-00001 and onward) at the final stage records lot quantity, sample size, rejects, main defect (dimension, hardness, burr, packing…) and a verdict. A rework verdict automatically opens a rework Work order for the rejected pieces, so rework is planned, booked and inspected like any other job. Incoming inspections against GRNs cover castings and forgings from your own suppliers, and Supplier records carry a vendor rating and approved / on-trial / blocked status.
Machines. Presses, VMCs and moulding machines are Machine / work centre records with capacity per shift and next service due. A breakdown log takes the machine off the plan automatically, and Breakdown hours by machine (90 days) shows where downtime concentrates.
Dispatch. A Dispatch names the sales order, the tax invoice, quantity, value, transporter, vehicle number and the e-way bill number generated on the portal. The template's Delivery challan PDF carries the e-way bill and vehicle details with the goods, and a delivered dispatch moves the sales order to dispatched.
PPAP and customer documents. Keep PPAP submissions, control plans, PFMEAs, inspection reports and customer drawings in Drive, in a folder per customer or part, shared with the people who need them. Put SOPs and work instructions in the Knowledge Base so Ask Axis can answer from them.
What to ask Ask Axis to add for auto components
- "Add a customer rejection type: customer, part, dispatch, quantity rejected at their gate, defect, debit note value."
- "Add a dashboard widget for customer PPM by customer this quarter."
- "Add PPAP status and PPAP level fields to items."
- "Add a monthly schedule adherence report: scheduled vs dispatched per part."
- "Add an 8D report type linked to customer rejections."
The honest limit
AxisIQ stores your quality records and documents; it doesn't make you IATF 16949 compliant, run an audit, or generate PPAP submissions in a customer's format. It also has no EDI link to OEM portals — schedules are entered or imported by CSV.
FAQ
What software do auto component suppliers use for production and quality tracking? Many run on Excel alongside Tally. AxisIQ keeps schedules as sales orders, shift output with rejects by reason, inspections with verdicts and rework jobs, breakdowns and dispatches in one workspace.
Can AxisIQ show rejection percentage? Yes. The home dashboard has a Rejection % (30 days) metric and a Rejects by reason chart, both built from production entries and editable as SQL.
Can I store PPAP documents in AxisIQ? Yes, as files in Drive, organised by customer or part. AxisIQ doesn't generate PPAP packages or check them against a standard.
How are OEM delivery schedules handled? Each schedule is a sales order with one line per part and delivery date, tracking dispatched against scheduled quantity. There is no EDI or OEM portal integration.
Is AxisIQ IATF 16949 certified? No. AxisIQ keeps inspection records, rework jobs and documents your quality system can use; certification is between your plant and its auditor.
