Industry templates: start with a workspace built for your business
Pick your industry and AxisIQ builds a ready workspace in seconds — apps, records, roles, automations and a dashboard — then Ask Axis tailors it to you.
AxisIQ industry templates give a new workspace the shape of your trade from the first minute: pick your industry when you create the organization and AxisIQ builds its apps, record types, roles, automation flows and a home dashboard in seconds — with realistic example data if you want every screen to look alive. Then Ask Axis, the assistant inside AxisIQ, asks what is different about the way you work and changes the workspace to match.

Why start from a template
A blank system asks you to design your own ERP before you can use it. Most teams do not have a week for that, and the ones that try usually rebuild the spreadsheet they were escaping. A template is the opposite starting point: the design work a consultant would do in a discovery workshop — which departments exist, what each one records, how a document moves from one status to the next, who may see what — already done for businesses like yours, and visible before you have typed a single record.
What you get is not a demo. Every template is built out of the same parts you would build yourself, so everything in it is yours to rename, extend or delete:
- Apps — the main menu, one per department or process (Orders & Returns, Admissions, Housekeeping…), grouped into the categories your trade uses.
- Record types — real database tables with typed fields: statuses with your lifecycle, references between records, money in rupees, dates for every milestone, computed fields such as margin or available stock.
- Roles — least-privilege permission sets for the jobs in your business, ready to invite people into.
- Automation flows — the obvious busywork, switched on: a delivered shipment closes its order, a received return updates the order, a high-value order is flagged.
- A home dashboard — this month against last month, open work, what is overdue, and the worklists someone should act on today.
- Forms, documents and a work queue — ready forms for the people who write in (an enquiry, a service request, a booking), PDF layouts for the paper your trade runs on (a job card, a fee receipt, a GST invoice, a delivery challan), a scan-ready work queue where the work is physical, and automatic numbering on every document.
- The right platform apps — a template switches on the AxisIQ apps your industry uses (POS for a store, Calendar for a school, Work Queues for a warehouse) and leaves the rest off, so the menu stays focused. Settings → Apps turns any of them on later.

Not on the list? Start blank: Ask Axis interviews you for a few minutes and builds a workspace from your answers using the same parts. Every template can also be taken apart and rebuilt in conversation.
What happens when you pick one
- You create the organization — name, currency, and the industry. Tick Include example data if you would like the dashboards and lists filled with realistic Indian records (a few dozen orders, students or reservations spread over recent weeks).
- AxisIQ builds it while the database is created — the template runs through the same tools the assistant uses, checked by the same rules, so nothing it creates is special or hidden. It takes seconds.
- Ask Axis tailors it. The setup chat opens on a ready workspace and asks what is different: an extra department, fields you track that the template does not, a step in your process that works another way, the teams who will use it. You answer in plain words; it adds the types and fields, changes the flows and roles, and updates the dashboard.
- You open your workspace. Invite people into the roles from Team → People, import your existing data with CSV on any record type, and clear the example data whenever you are ready — one click in Settings removes exactly the rows the template made and nothing you added.
What a template is not
A template is a starting point, not a certification of fit. It models the common shape of an industry in India; your process will differ somewhere, and that is what the tailoring step is for. Templates do not file GST returns, generate e-invoices or e-way bills, run payroll or sync with Tally — AxisIQ keeps the records and a balanced ledger your accountant works from. And a template never builds over data you already have: it applies to a new organization, or to one whose workspace is still empty.
FAQ
Can I change a template after it is built? Yes. Everything a template creates — apps, record types, fields, roles, flows, the dashboard — is ordinary workspace configuration. Rename or remove it yourself, or ask Ask Axis to make the change in plain words.
Is the example data mixed into my real records? It lives in the same record types, which is what makes the dashboards come alive on day one — but AxisIQ remembers exactly which rows the template created. Settings → Industry template → Clear example data removes those and only those, or start without them by leaving the box unticked.
What if my business spans two industries? Pick the closer one and ask Ask Axis to add the other side — for example a distributor that also runs retail counters can switch on In-Store Checkout and add store types to the distribution template.
Can I apply a template to a workspace I already use? If the workspace is still empty — you skipped setup — yes: the owner picks one in Settings → Industry template. Once a workspace has record types of its own, a template could collide with them, so instead describe what you need to Ask Axis and it builds the parts you are missing.
Which apps are switched off, and can I turn them on? Each template turns off the platform apps its industry rarely needs — Calendar for an online store, In-Store Checkout for a school. An owner turns any of them on in Settings → Apps; nothing is lost either way.
