Tabs and columns

Add, rename and delete sheets and columns in a workbook.

Add, rename and delete sheets (tabs) and columns.

Before you start: Can edit on Sheets. Anyone who can open the workbook can use Export CSV on a tab.

Sheets (tabs)

Add

  1. Click the + (Add sheet) button in the tab strip at the bottom.
  2. A new sheet named Sheet2, Sheet3 and so on appears.

Rename Double-click the tab, or open its menu and choose Rename. Type the name and click Rename. Formulas that point to the old name are updated.

Delete Open the tab menu (the … next to the name, or right-click) › Delete. Confirm "Delete "" and everything on it?" Delete only shows when the workbook has more than one sheet.

Other The tab menu also has Export CSV. Next to + there is Import CSV. See Import and export.

A sheet name must be unique in the workbook (not case sensitive): "a tab named "x" exists". A workbook holds up to 20 sheets: "tab limit reached".

Columns

Add

  1. Click the Add column button at the end of the header row.
  2. Enter a Label (for example "Amount") and choose a Type: Text, Number, Currency, Date, Checkbox or Select.
  3. Click Add.

The type cannot be changed afterwards. Typing into an empty ghost column past the last one creates a Text column for you.

Rename Right-click the column header › Rename › type the Label.

Delete Right-click the column header › Delete. Confirm "Delete column and its data?" It cannot be undone.

Important: deleting a column removes its data.

A sheet holds up to 200 columns.

Tips

  • To change a column's type, add a new column of the right type and copy the data across.
  • Columns that come from a computed record field are greyed out and cannot be edited.
