An AI assistant that runs your business operations
Axis, AxisIQ's AI business assistant, answers from live records and does the work under your permissions, with confirmations and an audit trail.
An AI business assistant is useful when it can do real work on your company's live records, not only write text about them. AxisIQ is built around one: Axis, an assistant that answers questions from your live data, helps you notice what needs attention and carries out operational work — creating records, raising payment links, sending messages, building reports and automations — always under the permissions of the person asking, with risky actions confirmed first and every change written to an audit trail. It works inside the AxisIQ web app, in a browser on desktop or phone, and it is how a growing company gets far more out of its system than a team clicking through screens would.
Most business software stores your data and waits for people to operate it: open the right screen, filter the right list, export, copy numbers into a message. Axis turns that into a sentence. The system is the same — records, ledger, payments, queues, reports — but the work of operating it moves to the assistant.
What can an AI business assistant actually do?
Axis works through tools, not a script. Each request goes to the model with the tools your workspace has, and it chooses which to run against your live records, reads the results and answers — often in several steps inside one reply. The tools used appear above the answer, and any query or action expands to show exactly what was sent and what came back.
Its work falls into three kinds.
Answer
Questions you would otherwise build a report for. Axis writes a read-only SQL query against your live records and shows the table or chart it got back, not a paragraph of guesses.
- "How did sales this month compare with last month, by city?"
- "Which customers ordered less this quarter than last?"
- "What has been sitting in packing since Tuesday?"
- "Which invoices are more than 30 days overdue, and what's the total?"
- "What does our supplier agreement say about late delivery?" — answered from documents in your knowledge base.
Notice
An assistant you have to remember to ask is only half the job. In AxisIQ, noticing is shared between Axis and the platform around it:
- Flows watch for record events or run on a schedule and act — update a record, send a message, create a calendar event — and Axis can build a flow from a plain description ("when a stock item drops below its reorder level, tell the purchase manager").
- Data quality scans find stored records that break today's rules — a missing required field, an option that no longer exists, a link to a deleted record.
- Ask Axis "what needs my attention today?" and it can check overdue invoices, stuck queue items and low stock in one pass.
Axis itself does not message you unprompted. The things that should happen without anyone asking are flows, and Axis is a fast way to build them.
Act
The part most "AI features" stop short of. Axis can:
- Create, update and bulk-create records — "add these 12 SKUs from this list", "mark order 1042 as dispatched".
- Raise a payment link for an invoice through your Razorpay account.
- Send an email, SMS or WhatsApp template message through your own messaging provider.
- Generate a PDF from a document template — a quote or invoice for a record.
- Create and update calendar events and find a time that suits several people.
- Build workspace structure: new record types, fields, menu modules, roles, flows and functions.
- Save a query as a report and assemble a dashboard for the team.
- Invite a teammate into the roles you name.
Why confirmations matter for an AI agent in business operations
Some actions should not happen on the strength of a misread sentence. In AxisIQ, money (payment links), outbound messages, invitations and destructive changes (deleting records, types, fields, flows, roles, functions or reports) are guarded. When Axis reaches one, it stops and asks a plain question — "Create a ₹48,000 payment link for invoice INV-2207 and send it to Sharma Traders — go ahead?" — instead of executing.
Two details make that confirmation worth something:
- It is enforced by the server, not by the model's good manners. A guarded action cannot run until the person has answered the question.
- The approval is single-use and exact. It covers that one tool with those exact arguments, once. If the model changes the amount, the recipient or the record, it has to ask again. Approving one payment link never pre-approves a second.
It runs as you, never as a superuser
Axis holds no access of its own. Every tool call is checked against the permissions of the person who asked, at the moment of the call:
- Fields masked from you are never handed to the model, so no prompt can get it to repeat them.
- An action outside your role is refused, and Axis has to tell you so rather than report success.
- Everything it changes lands in the append-only audit trail under your name, with before and after values.
That is what makes it safe to give a warehouse supervisor, an accounts executive and the founder the same assistant: each gets an assistant with exactly their own reach. Roles are set up in Permissions; the reasoning is in AI agents need permissions, not trust.
Connect it to the tools you already use (MCP)
Axis can use MCP connectors — servers that speak the Model Context Protocol over HTTP — so it can reach tools outside AxisIQ alongside your records. An organisation can add connectors for everyone, and each person can add their own. Connector tokens are stored encrypted, and connectors must be reachable on the public internet (servers that run as local programs are not supported). One honest caveat: connector tools are defined by the third-party server, so they are not covered by AxisIQ's confirmation step — connect only what you are comfortable letting the assistant use on your behalf.
The onboarding build: Axis sets up the system too
The first thing Axis does in a new workspace is build it. The AI workspace builder interviews the owner about how the business runs, proposes a plan, and then builds it: typically 7–10 apps, 25–45 record types with their fields and links, roles, automations, optional example data and a home dashboard. The first 60 setup turns are free.
That matters for the assistant as much as for setup. Axis is only as good as the data model it works on, and a model built around your actual business — your order stages, your stock locations, your customer types — is one it can reason about precisely.
What it looks like in a working week
A few examples of requests a growing distributor or D2C brand might make, framed as things you can ask:
| Who | Ask |
|---|---|
| Founder | "Summarise this week: sales, collections, top five customers, anything overdue." |
| Accounts | "Raise payment links for every invoice over ₹25,000 that's more than 15 days overdue." |
| Warehouse lead | "Which orders are packed but not dispatched, oldest first?" |
| Sales | "Create a lead for Mehta Foods, Pune, and draft a follow-up email." |
| Operations | "Add a 'damaged on arrival' status to returns and a flow that alerts QC when it's set." |
| New joiner | "How do I record a supplier return here?" |
Each guarded step in those — the payment links, the email — stops for a "go ahead?" before it happens.
How Axis differs from a chatbot or a copilot
A general chatbot works on what you paste into it and cannot act. A copilot drafts inside the screen in front of you and leaves the submitting to you. Axis works on your live records across the platform, runs real queries for its numbers, and acts — under your permissions, with confirmations and an audit trail. For the deeper comparison with pasting exports into a chatbot, see ChatGPT for business data vs an assistant on your live records. When AxisIQ is not the right choice
Be clear about the gaps before you choose:
- GST compliance. AxisIQ does not generate e-invoices (IRN) or e-way bills, file GST returns or handle TDS, and it does not sync with Tally. A workable setup is to keep Tally (or your CA's tool) for statutory accounting and run operations on AxisIQ.
- Manufacturing planning. There is no MRP, BOM explosion or production planning.
- Payroll and HR. Not included.
- Offline and native mobile. AxisIQ is a responsive web app that works in a phone browser, with no offline mode.
- AI models are third-party. Axis's responses are generated by an external model provider (currently OpenAI). The data needed to answer a request is sent to that provider for that turn. If your policy rules that out, the assistant is not for you.
- It can be wrong. A model can misread an ambiguous question. That is why the SQL, the tools and the changes stay visible, and why guarded actions ask first.
Getting started
Start a 14-day trial, no card needed, let the workspace builder set up your system, then ask Axis about it. If you would rather see it on your own kind of business first, book a demo. Plans are on pricing.
FAQ
What is the best AI assistant for business operations? The useful test is whether the assistant can work on your live records under each person's permissions, ask before risky actions and leave an audit trail. Axis in AxisIQ does all three. A general chatbot works only on what you paste in, and cannot act.
Can an AI assistant create invoices and payment links? In AxisIQ, yes. Axis can create invoice records and raise Razorpay payment links against them, but a payment link is a guarded action: it stops and asks you to confirm that exact link before creating it.
Is it safe to let an AI agent act on business data? It is safe to the extent that the agent has no access of its own. Axis runs every action under the asking person's permissions, never sees masked fields, needs a single-use confirmation for money, messages and deletions, and records every change in the audit trail.
Does the AI assistant send our data to OpenAI? Axis uses a third-party model provider, currently OpenAI, to generate responses, so the data a request needs is sent to that provider for that turn. Fields your permissions mask are never included, because they are removed before the model sees anything.
Does Axis do things on its own without being asked? No. Axis acts when someone asks. Work that should happen automatically — alerts, scheduled updates, follow-ups — runs as flows, which Axis can build for you from a plain description and you can review on the flow canvas.
