Widgets
Every kind of widget a report can hold, how to add each one, and every setting in the Configure widget dialog.
A report holds six kinds of widget. You add all of them from one dialog.
Add a widget
In edit mode click Add widget (or the plus on a row). The Add to this report dialog offers:
| Choice | What it adds | What you pick |
|---|---|---|
| Chart, table or metric — "Write or generate a query" | A widget with its own query. Opens the Query workspace; button Write the query. | The view is chosen in the workspace. |
| Saved query — "Pin one from the library" | A widget showing a saved query. | Saved query, then Show it as: A chart, A headline number (KPI row) or A table. |
| Note — "Context in a few words" | A text block. | Title (optional) and Text. Markdown works: bold, lists, links. |
| Form — "Fill it in on the page" | A form embedded on the page. | A published form. |
| Button — "Opens a form in a dialog" | A button that opens a form in a window. | A published form. |
Only published forms can be added. With none you see "No published forms yet — publish one in the Forms app first." With no saved queries you see "No saved queries yet."
How each kind looks
- Metric — one big number, optionally with a small trend line, a change arrow and progress to a target.
- Chart — Line, Bar, Horizontal bar (ranking) or Donut (share). The default Auto chart picks from the shape of the result. Named categories default to the ranking bar, dates to a line.
- Table — rows and columns that scroll inside the card.
- Note, Form, Button — text, an inline form, or an action button.
Numbers are formatted by what the column looks like: money uses your workspace currency, percentages show as percent, dates as dates. Names like invoice numbers or years are never formatted as amounts.
Configure a widget
In edit mode open the widget's Widget options menu and choose Configure…. The Configure widget dialog changes when you click Done.
Chart, table or metric widgets

| Visualisation | Auto chart, Line, Bar, Horizontal bar (ranking), Donut (share), Table. Table is not offered in a KPI row. |

| Good news is | A rise (revenue, sign-ups) or A fall (overdue, complaints). Controls whether an increase shows green or red. |
A metric query can also return a column named previous (or prev, prior, last_period) to show a percentage change, and a column named target (or goal) to show progress towards it.
