Sites
Host your business website on your own domain. Start from a template or a business starter, edit it here or with Ask Axis, preview every change and publish when it is ready.
Sites hosts your website. Start from a template, a ready-made site for your kind of business, or a description that Ask Axis turns into pages. Edit the files here, with Ask Axis or with git, preview every change, and publish when you are happy.
Note: Sites is an optional app. If it is not in your launcher, it is not available on your plan or has been switched off in Settings › Apps.
What you can do
- Create a site — from a template, a business starter or a description.
- Edit files — in the browser, with a live preview.
- Build with Ask Axis — describe a change and review it before it goes live.
- Work on a branch — try changes on a draft, then publish them.
- Publish and roll back — every published version is kept; go back with one click.
- Use your own domain — connect
www.yourbusiness.com. A custom domain is served over plain http, not https; the site's own AxisIQ address is always secure. - Use git — clone and push with an access token.
Before you start
Roles have a Websites app. Access can be given per site:
| Level | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Can view | See sites, their files and history, and clone them. |
| Can edit drafts | Change files on draft branches and see previews — nothing goes live. |
| Can publish | Put changes live and roll back to an earlier version. |
| Full control | Everything above, plus creating and deleting sites, domains, settings and access tokens. |
Create a site
- Open Sites (launcher category Marketing) and click New site (or Create a site on an empty page).
- Type a Site name. The Key is made from it — it names the site and its permissions (lowercase letters, digits and hyphens).
- Under Start from, choose one:
- React app, Blank, Landing page, or Blog from Content Studio (pick the Content Studio site it reads).
- Business starter — choose the Kind of business: clinic, salon & spa, restaurant & café, retail store, CA & tax practice, coaching institute, or gym & fitness studio. You get a ready site with prices in ₹, opening hours and a WhatsApp button, with sample text to replace.
- Describe it — write What should the site say?, for example "A site for our bakery in Pune: menu, opening hours, catering enquiries, and a gallery." Ask Axis writes the pages and you review a preview before anything goes live.
- Create it. You see " is ready".
Edit and preview
Open a site to get its workspace with Files, History, Deploys, Domains and Settings.
- Files — pick a file on the left to edit it; add a New file, Upload files, Rename or move, Delete or Undo my changes. Changed files are marked Unsaved.
- Type Describe the change and click Save (or Save & publish on the live branch when publishing automatically is on). A project such as the React app is built first; the preview updates when it is ready.
- Click Build with Ask Axis to open the assistant beside the files. Its changes go to a separate branch for you to review; publishing them always asks you first.
- History shows every saved change with what changed in each file.
Branches and publishing
Use the Branch menu and New branch… to work on a draft (for example spring-sale) without touching the live site. Each saved branch gets its own preview. When it is ready, click Publish and confirm: the branch is merged into the production branch and goes live.
Deploys and rolling back
Deploys lists every version with its Status (Building…, Live, Failed), branch, size and time, and a Preview link.
- Make live or Roll back — switch the site to that version straight away.
- Retry — rebuild a failed version from the same saved change. A failed production version can't be retried once a newer one is live.
- Unpublish the site (in Settings) — visitors get "not found" until you make a version live again.
Your own domain
Every site has its own address on AxisIQ, shown under its name. To use your own:
- Open Domains, type the Domain (for example
www.yourbusiness.com) and click Add domain. - Add the TXT and CNAME records it shows at your domain provider (Copy record name / Copy record value help).
- Click Check DNS. When it says Connected, the site answers on that domain. DNS changes can take a few minutes; until then it shows Waiting for DNS.
Your own domain is served over plain http://, not https://. The site's own AxisIQ address is always secure, so share that one when security matters.
Up to 20 domains per site.
Settings and git
Settings holds the Name, Description, Production branch and Publish automatically. Under Access tokens, create a New access token for a laptop or an automated build: choose what It can do (Clone and fetch, Push to branches (not publish) or Push and publish) and when it Expires. Copy it straight away — it is shown only once. Use Copy clone URL with it to clone the site with git.
Forms, bookings and content on your site
A site can show a form, take calendar bookings, call a function or read pages from Content Studio.
Delete a site
From the Sites list, open a site's menu and choose Delete site. Its files, history, previews and domains are removed and the site stops answering at once. This cannot be undone.
